How do I order a domain?

What is shared (or virtual) web hosting?
Shared hosting, purchasing only part rather then the whole server, offers a cost effective solution to managing your website. With a shared hosting account you will receive secure space on a server, a high-speed connection to the Internet and software tools for you to build and maintain your web site. View our Web Hosting section to determine which shared hosting solution fits your needs. Also note that shared/vitual hosting is not the same as shared/virtual domains. A 'virtual domain' typically runs on virtual hosting, but is accomplished via and/or dynamic IP addressing. Many of our competitor's offerings consist of this mechanism. We only offer 'true domains' consisting of static IP addresses for each domain. Stay away from 'virtual domains' if at all possible, as they are quite inferior. [ top ]

What do I get with a AXiS-9 domain?
When you order a domain through AXiS-9 Communications, you receive the disk space, server configuration and data transfer necessary for your site to be accessed on the World Wide Web. Additionally, you will receive a software suite that enables you to manage that space and build your website. What is a domain name and how can I get one?
A domain name is your address on the World Wide Web. To be accessed from anywhere in the world, a domain name must be registered with an ICANN accredited registrar. If you already have a domain name, there is no additional cost to use that domain name with AXiS-9. If you need a domain name you can purchase one through AXiS-9. We'll handle the entire registration and domain name management process for you. AXiS-9 can register available .com, .net, .org, .info and .biz domain names. How long does it take to setup a new account?
Our Automated Sign-Up Form ensures you have provided us with all necessary details to set your account up pending payment approval. If paying by credit card or electronic check via PayPal, your account will be set up within 30 minutes in most cases. If paying by physical check or money order, payment must be received and bank cleared prior to account activation. Any site that promotes illegal activity or presents content that may be damaging to AXiS-9 servers or any other servers on the internet. May I promote my site with bulk email?
Spamming, the sale of spam software, providing access for spam, or the sending of unsolicited e-mail, from an AXiS-9 server or using an e-mail address or domain that is maintained on a AXiS-9 server as reference is STRICTLY prohibited. A violation will result in immediate termination and your surrendering on all monies paid. Bulk mailing to lists that are fully opted-in are permissible and encouraged. [ top ]

What are AXiS-9' server specifications?
Since we offer different types of hosting packages, oor server specs vary. The bare minimum is a PIII-1GHz with 512MB RAM. All servers have dual-power supplies, hot-swap drives and a battery backup. [ top ]

What software does AXiS-9 run on its servers?
We use RedHat Linux running Apache v1.3.26 as the web server. We also offer PHP 4.2.1, MySQL 3.23.45, and Perl 5.006. Please note that we update frequently and this page may have yet to be updated to reflect the upgrades. [ top ]

How do I transfer my site to AXiS-9?
Step 1: Sign up with us just as if it was a new account.
Step 2: Upon payment verification you will receive a welcome email from us informing you that the setup of your account has been completed.
Step 3: Transfer your content and test your site on our server using the information provided in the welcome email.
Step 4: Email a domain name transfer request (or use a web interface if available) to the appropriate registrar company (the company that you initially registered your domain name through). Use the AXiS-9 nameservers that are on the signup form when transferring your domain name. If you need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Step 5: Once you verify the transfer, the registrar will point your domain name to our name server, and the rest of the world will be able to access your new site on our server with your domain name. [ top ]

What is AXiS-9's connectivity?
The AXiS-9 Data Center (DC) is connected to the Internet through multiple Gigabit Ethernet links from Cogent, Williams, Time Warner, Verio, and Allegiance Telecom, as well as supplemental OC3 and DS3 links from Savvis and ELI. Does AXiS-9 offer an Affiliate Program?
Yes we do, however, in June 2002 we decided to modify our program to provide larger and faster payouts to our affiliates. We expect to roll out the new program in August 2002. If you are interested in the this program, please contact us and we'll let you know when it is live. Is access to a secure certificate (SSL) included?
The ability for you to add a secure certificate is included with all plans except for our Standard Plan. Secured by 128-bit encryption, SSL provides the most secure method of data transmission available.
